The arts culture of Jacmel is one of the primary reasons I love this city so. 💚🎨✨ #villecreative #jacmel #haiti #thisishaiti #ayiticheri #govisithaiti
I’ve spent almost five years in Haiti. Years that sometimes feel like weeks, at other times centuries. I feel I have only begun to scratch the surface of comprehending all this country has taught me, how it’s changed me and made me a better person. I’m sure it may take a lifetime to process - but it’s as though I can barely remember who I was or how life was before I found Ayiti Cheri. 💕🇭🇹 #ayiticheri #haiti #thisishaiti

I often try to describe what it’s like to live and love in a place like Haiti. Rarely do I find words, but waves of deep and complex emotions that my mind has yet to fully process. This place has become a part of my soul, and has shaped me in ways I never knew possible. It reintroduced me to myself and parts of me I never knew existed. At times I feel I’m stronger than ever before, and at others, I’ve never felt weaker. Living in Haiti is living in sheer juxtaposition. Juxtaposed emotions that can change instantaneously from pure joy to utter despair. Juxtaposed society that forever reflects the separation of class and the struggles of extreme poverty and survival. Beauty next to horror, and life next door to death. Life has become so fragile, yet so purposeful. The suffering becomes an anthem to charge forward in the fight for justice. I’ve never before felt more like myself, yet can also feel like a stranger in my own body. Haiti has made me to find strength in my weakness and has forced me to overcome fear. This island chose me, I most certainly did not choose it, and I’ll never be able to fully express my gratitude. 🇭🇹❤️ #haiti #thisishaiti #ayiticheri #govisithaiti

My mom has always been my biggest cheerleader, confidant, counselor and guide. She exudes love and wisdom and encompasses everything that describes motherhood. She’s been an incredible example to my brother and I, and has never failed to believe in and support me in all that I aspire to do. I love you, Mami! Happy Mother’s Day! Thank you for being you and being such an integral part of who I have become. 💗💕
A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of sitting down and sharing my story with the beautiful ladies of the @workyourworth.co podcast! I love collaborating with other boss babes who are seeking to use their voice and platforms to promote female empowerment and self-love. Click the link in my bio to hear me share about @jasperhousehaiti and all the exciting things! ✨

“Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend.” - Melody Beattie ✨🌿▫️▫️ photo by: @jamiekcurtis
