Party in the city where the heat is on. 😎🌴☀️ .
For the last few days my heart has weighed heavy. The country that was my home for five years, the country that broke every part of the person I once was and put me back together again, the country that revealed my destiny and gave me a passion I never knew I had, is hurting. For those of you who don’t know, there have been large-orchestrated political protests, throughout the country, the largest being in the capital, Port-Au-Prince.
The main complaints of the Haitian people are corruption, resignation of the current president, and mismanagement of the economy.
There has recently been a 15% inflation rate, causing the already difficult living conditions to increase immensely. People are demanding politicians be held accountable for millions of dollars in aid that has gone missing.
The protests have now been going on for over a week and sources are unsure as to when it might stop.
As overwhelmed and helpless as I feel right now there are three things I ask you to do with me:
1. Pray - pray for this country, pray for her people. .
2. Educate yourself on Haiti's complicated history - it is important not to just assume what you see on the news as accurate information; take part in learning about these issues for yourself.
3. Continue to support NGO's like @jasperhousehaiti who are on the ground protecting and supporting our women in spite of instability. .
We are doing everything we can to make sure our women and staff are safe and have the necessary resources they need.
If there’s one thing I know to be true it’s that Haitians are by far some of the strongest and most resilient people I’ve ever encountered. I believe they will rise up from this as they continue to hold strong despite all odds. .

6 months ago today I moved to Miami. I had no idea what this new season would bring, but I can say it’s been beyond what I could have ever imagined. My life in the 305 has been nothing short of amazing and largely in part to these beautiful people. I’m more blessed than I can express. Here’s to the next 6 months and beyond. Love you my DABS. 💋🖤🍾
“Being Latina means being different shades of Morena... because being any tone of Morena is beautiful and the shade of our skin does not define our cultural significance” - @jenzeanodesigns .
I love this shirt, and even more the girl who gave it to me (@grahamkristina ). My entire life I’ve been told I wasn’t the heritage I am because I didn’t fit the physical profile people believed I should fit. I “don’t look like a Maria”. 🤔😒😑 Because my hair and skin are lighter than what people think they should be, this somehow strips me of my mother’s race. Yes, I’m half white, but I’m also half Latina, and I am wildly proud of this fact. Yo soy morena. ✨🇵🇷
My actual ride or die. 💕😎
Real life fairy tale ✨🌸🌿 .

For those of you who have been asking for years about volunteering with @jasperhousehaiti, here’s your chance!
This March I’m heading up the first ever island volunteer retreat which not only gives you the chance to experience life at Jasper House, give back and get involved, but also get to see the Haiti I love so dearly. Join me for yoga, surf lessons (not taught by me), hikes to one of the most breathtaking waterfalls and relaxing days on the beach after serving the women of Jasper House.
